Crap team v Good team = difficult to ref

It may be pushing it a little to call England a good team but you know what I mean. The referee struggled to control the match between part-timers Andorra and England. Let's leave aside the merits of McLaren or the crass England supporters and look at how the loutish behaviour of the Andorrans seriously affected England. Their confidence already undermined by the poor result, a baying media and hissing fans, England suddenly found themselves assailed by a team that was clearly briefed to try to kick their way to limiting the damage. For the England team, it's clearly been a long time since any of them had to battle their way through the violent depths of non-league football. In fact most of them have been cosseted through the cotton wool of academy football since they were 7 year olds. They needed the referee to protect them last night and he didn't do that. Some of the Andorran challenges and off the ball behaviour merited much more serious treatment and his indecisiveness succeeded only in encouraging the England players to take their own retaliatory measures.
