No changes to the offside law? WRONG

Come on Sky. Get your acts together. it really doesn't take brain scientists to work out there have been a couple of law changes that have been introduced this summer. "No changes to the offside laws this season then," said the Sky commentary team on Sunday.
Uuuuhh wrong!
Just about the only important change made to the laws for the start of this season IS to the offside law.
It covers players who have inadvertently left the field of play. A player who is off the field of play and over the goal-line will count as having one foot on the line and thus will be ON the field of play. This is a direct response to the chaos over an incident during a match between Italy and The Netherlands at Euro2008 when a goal by Ruud van Nistelrooj was allowed although he appeared to be in an offside position. An Italian player lying on the ground was adjudged to be involved in play, despite being a yard off the pitch. Being involved meant that he played Van Nistelrooj on.
A year after the tournament, this "law" has now been included - somewhat belatedly - in the laws of the game. Just wait for the first time this happens in the Premier League this season - they'll scream blue murder!

Hey 'Fat Ref', who the Dickens is Van Nistelrooj?
Get your facts right man, before you go frontin' as the voice of reason, you've a long way to go till you reach the rich creamy pastures of Andy Gray.
