My season starts on September 9. Six weeks away; and i've got six weeks to recover the merest hint of fitness, to get rid of a couple of stone so that I don't embarrass myself.
I took the decision last night (and broke it to my better half) this morning that step number one would be to join the gym. There's a David Lloyd centre on the way to the M20 and I can pop in on the way to work.
My weight is at an all time high. I don't know why, it just seems to have happened. I have a sedentary but busy life style that involves a lot of travelling to work and back. But there's no excuse; i'm eating unhealthily and have to stop.
So, over the next few weeks, a healthy me is going to emerge and on September 9, wherever the Maidstone & District League sends me on my first Saturday, I can at least get my kit on and keep up with play.
