It's 4-4-in a truly wonderful Spurs v Reading match when Spurs are are awarded a penalty. Keane takes it, it's saved by Hahnemann and Defoe taps in the rebound.
But the goal should not have counted. It should have been an indirect free kick to Reading because Defoe was three yards inside the penalty area when the ball was kicked. He made the most of this illegal act by scoring and should have been penalised.
Premiership referees, I'm afraid, are proving a tad timid when it comes to penalising penalty-related offences and need to stiffen their backbone and accept that players will moan and shout when a penalty is disallowed.
On YouTube you'll find a great piece of refereeing where the ref disallows a penalty five times for various offences. Now that's courage.
Yesterday, I'm afraid, a great football match was tarnished by a bad piece of refereeing.
