Fat Ref slims down

After a life-long battle with the flab, I've decided that something needs to be done. I'm disciplined in most areas of my life (some call me a control freak - moi?) but I've never been able to resist unhealthy grub. Until now that is.
A combination of reaching unparalleled depths on the scales and a desire to live to enjoy my generous company pension from a previous employer set me off on a major diet on January 1. Even now I'm too ashamed to say how much I weighed after a night of champagne with neighbours Don and Viv, but I've lost nine kilos (that's almost a stone and a half or 20 pounds) in the first month.
For most people that's a right arm, but for me it's only a start. I've still got a long way to go.
One other way of encouraging myself is to make an attempt at promotion from my current Level 6 to Level 5.
At the moment I'm still too slow to satisfy the demands but I'm already feeling lighter on my feet and I hope that a couple of months more will see me at a more reasonable size.
Assessments proper will not begin until the start of next season (probably, though one may be squeezed in to the end of this season) and by September I'm planning on being 13 or 14 stone, a weight I've not seen since I lived in New Zealand 15 years ago.
Wish me luck!

Sounds like you and I are on the same path, albeit you are ahead of me in the weight loss department. The motivation and goals are the same: drop weight (a pound a week for me through to Memorial Day, improve fitness, upgrade. Good on you and best wishes. I'll be checking back to see how it goes and will let you know how I progress. NM

Thanks to all three of you, especially Nutmegger. Keep it up. I'm doing fine. had a couple of days in Barcelona last week where I slipped a little with late night eating, red wine etc etc, but back on track now and felt a lot fitter during my match on Saturday.

Good luck. Remember it took you years to attain your present state and commit yourself to years of work to regain the level of fitness to which you aspire- be in it for the rest of your life.
