Down to Romney Marsh on Saturday for Lydd Town v The University of Kent. The match was fast and furious, with the fit, young students giving Lydd the runaround, but I was massively impressed with the pitch and the facilities offered by Lydd. The pitch was a delight and a tribute to the anonymous people who work hard to make it an excellent playing surface. I would imagine keeping it in good condition becomes more difficult when the rain comes down as the pitch is below sea level and must surely flood. Playing in the shadow of Dungeness power station just added to the mood of the place.
