Huffing and Puffing - Drogba's shame

Don't forget here - I'm a Chelsea fan.
But the bottom line from last night's Champions' League semifinal at Stamford Bridge is that Michael Essien fluffed a clearance in the 93rd minute, giving Barcelona a chance that they accepted gratefully. And Didier Drogba failed to score over two legs.
The excuses are all well and good but that's all they are; excuses for not having done enough to win.
Criticism of the referee is more complex but accusations of a sinister plot to prevent English teams getting to the final are pathetic. If such a plot existed, would a referee send off a Barcelona player? There's little doubt that Mr Henning Ovrebo made a couple of mistakes. But again, a team cannot rely on favourable refereeing decisions to win games.
It's hardly surprising that Drogba, who admitted to the world a couple of years ago that he dives in the penalty area, is not awarded penalties. A referee is bound to be cynical when players go down in the box. That said, the only clear mistakes I can see from last night are the foul that was given as being committed outside the penalty area when it was inside. A well placed referee and his assistant should not make that kind of mistake. Shirt pulling took place on Malouda in the area, but shirts are pulled all the time these days and are not always easy to spot.
So Drogba decided that he has the right to rant and rave and swear at the world. He does not and UEFA should take harsh sanctions against him. Chelsea played very well last night and would have won a lot of friends with their performance until Drogba had his tantrum.
Players cannot behave like this. I'm refereeing my last match of the season tonight and I don't need some local player deciding he can get away with such behaviour.

Amen, brother. I'm all in favor of not allowing adult league players to watch games on TV. (Not sure how I'd enforce it, but it's a nice idea.) They get FAR too many stupid ideas from trying to imitate the routines they've seen classless, immature idiots perform during professional and international games. I guess it is easier to imitate Drogba's diving, posturing, and cry-baby behavior than it is his ability to score. At least that makes them feel sort of Drogba-like...

Oh well Santa Fe, all the players looked completely knackered, a bit like Smith when he used to play up front, so aprt from a couple of feeble dives that I laughed at, they all behaved!!
