Me and football

While I've never been a good footballer, I've had a lot to do with football. My brother was an apprentice with Chelsea in the glory years of 1970 and my Dad was manager of the local team in Honiton, Devon.
As a journalist I've covered threeWorld Cups, 1998 in France for Reuters and 2006 in Germany and 2010 in South Africa for The Associated Press, as well as numerous Champions League and International Matches in France, Sweden and Norway. I'm now International Sports Editor of The Associated Press.
My four sons have all played football at varying levels and I became a referee after shouting at a referee in Kent one day and receiving a dressing down from him. I reffed park football and kids' football in Kent for 6 years and now ref in the Kent County League.
