Well done Lee Mason - and the teams

Mason gave a thoroughly commanding performance in Sunderland's 3-0 victory over Norwich on Wednesday night.Admittedly, he was helped by players who were willing to listen most of the time, but Mason's approach was firm and friendly.

He talked a lot to players, and after handing out two yellow cards, kept them in his pocket for most of the game, convinced the players would stay level-headed under a policy of strong communications rather than cards.
Today's newspapers are full fo reports of the match rather than the ref, just as it should be. And credit goes to the players most of all, for playing in the spirit of the game.
