Ashley Young buys a penalty - again

Young really is a most cynical player. Basically, once again, he cheated to win himself a penalty at Old Trafford today despite referee Mark Halsey having a perfect view from less than 10 yards away.

Young has developed - through plenty of training ground practise one suspects - the art of sensing or feeling if a defender's leg could be blocking is way. He then moves his leg or foot into the defender's leg, giving the impression that he is being tripped.
This manoeuvre is then followed by a most dramatic fall to the ground, which really should not impress anyone.
I have a feeling that Halsey over-thought his decision today. Without claiming to know what he was thinking, I can imagine the experienced ref spotting that Young's fall to the ground was a dramatic con, but thinking nonetheless that there had been a foul that merited a penalty.
In fact, I believe the replays show that Young is conning the officials from start to finish.
There's an irony that Young may well have finessed his art of diving during his formative years at Villa, today's victims of Man Utd. I know I've said this before, but there's a huge hypocrisy about managers who condemn diving while at the same time seeing it coached on the training pitches.
