I do not envy Clattenburg that post-match anarchy

OK so I'm used to having the odd disgruntled player mumbling insults as he walks past the changing rooms. Even the occasional manager who wants to ask a question. (You know they don't want to ask a real question, just the old, "Have you stopped beating your wife" style question that you can't answer.

But all of this counts for absolutely nothing when compared to the Match Officials' room at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening.
Just when Mark Clattenburg and his team should have been looking forward to a nice steak before heading off back north, chaos erupts.
Clattenburg will have known he could have expected an unhappy Roberto di Matteo in his room after sending off two Chelsea players. He can't have expected what was, apparently, a delegation of furious Chelsea officials including di Matteo, the club chairman and a couple of players, including a shirtless Jon Obi Mikel.
Some reports suggest violence came close to erupting. Some of what happened will probably emerge in time, but for the moment only a few things are clear.
No matter what happens, the referees' changing room should be sacrosanct. Pressure on Clattenburg for the previous two hours was intolerable. Mentally and physically, he needed to cool off, to get his head together. What possible point was there in a Chelsea delegation invading that privacy. If they're so angry, report him to the FA.
