The case of the curious penalties in Portugal

Couple of interesting penalties tonight in Man Utd's match in Portugal, one given against the English team that perhaps shouldn't have been, and one given against Portugal that also shouldn't have been given. And then, perhaps Wayne Rooney's penalty shot should have been penalised.

Firstly Braga were awarded a penalty when one of their strikers pushed the ball past Jonny Evans and then ran full tilt into the Irishman.
At first glance it did indeed look like a crude foul and the penalty was given. But on replay, it can be seen that the Braga player alters his course to deliberately run into Evans, who barely moves.
Then Rooney went down too early to win his penalty. A sharp-eyed ref might have seen that. And when Rooney took the penalty, he slipped on the soaked turf and kicked the ball against his left foot and it flew in the opposite direction to the one Rooney intended and into the net.
In fact Rooney had kicked the ball twice, but it would have been virtually impossible for the referee to see this inadvertent offence and order an indirect free kick to Braga.
