Phil Dowd breathes sigh of relief on quiet Prem weekend

It was a good weekend for football and refs in the Premier League. The spotlight shone on wonderful comebacks by the Manchester teams and a six-goal thriller between Arsenal and Fulham.

Phil Dowd has Brad Friedel to thank for saving an Arsenal penalty that would have unjustly given the Gooners a 4-3 victory.
In the last minute Dowd penalised Fulham's Sascha Riether for handball in the penalty area, a harsh decision given that Andrei Arshavin had slammed the ball at home from close range. It could hardly be called deliberate handball given the Fulham player had no chance to do anything. Anyway Arteta's penalty was saved and it was all smiles afterwards.
Unsurprisingly, there was little sympathy for Chelsea today, where Howard Webb had a good match.
The Liverpool goal by Suarez shouldn't have counted. He gave Ramires a huge shove to push him two or three yards and to find the space to head home.
But Chelsea were their own worst enemy. They missed a hatful of chances and played rather as though they felt the goals would just present themselves.
