Hot Air time as Fulham lose close call

Here we go again. The airwaves are packed full of pompous and wrong expressions of horror and disgust that Fulham were not awarded a goal in Saturday's match when, in the words of bbc.co.uk's august sports section, "replays showed the ball crossed the line. "
Is that what the television replays showed? Yes, they did, because the camera was at an angle of 45 degrees to the goalline and it looked from the television pictures as though the ball crossed the line.
But to fly in the face of a cliche, the camera does lie. And here it's lying because the camera is giving the viewer an incorrect view. The correct view is the one from the goal line, and there was no camera there. One person who was there was the linesman and he saw that the whole ball had not crossed the line.
