So, he made a mistake - Shit happens

OK, so Rob Styles made a mistake. Hair shirt has been put on and grovelling has taken place. Explanations are pointless. Styles may have blinked as Ronaldo was tackled so that it appeared to be a foul. It doesn't matter. For the masses, it's just something else to rant about, to gossip about, to scream and shout about.
For the ref who makes the mistake, believe me, it's the pits. When I cock up, I replay the incident in my head for a couple of days. With Styles, it must be 100 times worse as he has to put it behind him quickly in time for the next match.
Can I explain how it happened? No, not really. Styles may have blinked, he may have just missed the defender's foot catching the ball before Ronaldo dragged his feet over Samuels in that way that makes it look like he's been fouled.
But the masses have had their moan - and that's what matters after all isn't it?

Personally, I can't understand why fans give a free pass to cheating footballers who seemingly practice diving more than any other skill. Ronaldo may be the best player in the world, but until he drops the cheating/diving/whining routine, I for one will consider him to be the biggest single problem in the sport today.

I agree. Not one member of the media blaming Ronaldo for going to ground too easily.
